Ricoh adds FlashAir card compatibility to their rugged WG-60 compact camera

  • The Pentax line of has built up a pretty good track record over the years. Going from simple waterproofing to a full rugged build, the line was continued when Pentax was bought by Ricoh. And they’ve now announced the new Ricoh WG-60.

The WG-60 appears essentially identical to the .

Like its predecessor, it’s a 16MP camera with a 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor. It has a 5-25mm lens (35mm equivalent 28-140mm) offering 5x optical zoom, circled with LEDs for a little extra macro brightness and a max aperture of f/3.3-5.5 and focuses as close as 1cm in “Super Macro” mode, 10cm in regular macro mode or 50cm in regular mode.

ISO ranges from 125-6400, shutter speeds go from 1/4000th of a second up to 4 seconds for long exposures. It features a self timer, intervalometer, +/-2EV exposure compensation in 1/3rd stop increments. It shoots 1080p video up to 30 frames per second and has a 2.7″ 230K dot rear LCD. The WG-60 has an IPx8 rating for use underwater at depths of up to 45.9′ / 14m (JIS Class 8).

The addition of support might not sound like a big deal, but for a camera built to be waterproof, I think it is. The last thing you500vip彩票安卓下载官网 want to do when you500vip彩票安卓下载官网’ve just got out of the pool or an ocean is to pull open you500vip彩票安卓下载官网r SD card slot and start faffing around with card readers to look at the images on you500vip彩票安卓下载官网r phone and maybe post one or two online.

FlashAir is basically the only way that the WG-60 can communicate with you500vip彩票安卓下载官网r phone. So, now, you500vip彩票安卓下载官网r waterproofing can stay safely sealed as you500vip彩票安卓下载官网’ll no longer need to risk opening up that card slot with the camera still wet or have to wait for it to dry before pulling the images off.

The Ricoh WG-50 was released , and the new WG-60 sticks to that same price point. It’s available to and is available in either or .
